Commuters from New Jersey and Long Island could be in for a rough ride this summer. Parts of Amtrak’s summer Penn Station repair plans have leaked to the Associated Press and The New York Times, and it doesn’t look pretty.
The leaked documents state that the major work periods will be from July 7 to July 25, and August 4 to 28. The brunt of the work will be focused on “A” Interlocking at Penn Station: the tracks that connect the station with the Hudson River Tunnels to New Jersey, and also to West Side Yard. Amtrak has been meeting with New Jersey Transit and the Long Island Rail Road to finalize the exact work plan for this summer, but some repairs could begin within the next few weeks.
